Mont Saint-Eloi, the 7th c. Abbey pillaged for stone during the remembrance, and struck further during WWI. A hauntingly beautiful marker in the vast fields of the Pas de Calais region.

The Louvre-Lens: a day that will stay with me forever. I hired a bicycle for the duration of my stay in Paris, and on a quiet Sunday morning rode to the Gare du Nord and took the train north to Lens. As the heat of the day set in I found respite in the gardens and cool interiors of this beautiful building by @sanaa.jp and the surrounding landscape. Walking the shoreline at sunset is so good for the soul. Hoping it’s good for the body too - this cold has been lingering much longer than I’d like!
The perforated operable screens perfectly ajar, morning sun just cresting the building and slipping into the public square, cool blue autumn skies. I was pretty impressed with it all.
A couple of weeks ago I took myself on a little running archi-tour of my childhood hometown. Caught this beauty that started the Lower Hutt architecture revival (yes I’m calling it that!) in the morning light, brimming with activity.
Missing these lazy Sunday afternoons of late - always seems to be raining these days.
